The Olympic Torch passed through East Sussex today and in typical style, LGB were there to entertain the crowds lining the streets of Lewes waiting for the arrival of the once-in-a-lifetime procession.
We split into two groups, one playing to shoppers in the pedestrianised zone at the bottom of the High Street and the other in the grounds of St Anne’s church by County Hall.
People started to gather very early and by the time the first parts of the relay came through there were hundreds of people sitting on walls and standing by the side of the road. The sun even came out for the occasion! After playing the torch bearers past with ‘Sussex By The Sea’ LGB members were invited to a special reception at the town hall.
Many thanks to all who supported us – and particularly to Anne, Ruth, Natalie, Sonia, Mick, Dave and Dennis for pitching in and playing (as well as ‘groupies’ Helen, Margaret and Carole)!
