Aside from LGB’s busy summer season, several of our members have other musical plans for the next few months.

First up is B flat bass player John Blight, who on Saturday 12th May will be performing with Bexhill Choral Society in a Diamond Jubilee Concert. They will be accompanied by the Sussex Concert Orchestra under the direction of Kenneth Roberts, and the programme includes Borodin’s ‘Polotsvian Dances’, Verdi’s ‘Grand March from Aida’, Parry’s ‘I Was Glad’ and Handel’s ‘Hallelujah Chorus’.

Tickets for the concert, which takes place at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill and starts at 7:30pm, cost between £10 and £12 and are available from the Pavillion Box Office (01424 229111).

Then in July, solo cornet Phil Goldsmith and LGB President Dennis Wilby will be joining up again with the concert band of the RASC/RCT Musicians Association. Their Diamond Jubilee Anniversary Concert takes place at 2pm on Saturday 14th July in The Princes Hall in Aldershot. Tickets for the event cost £10 and anyone wanting more information can find it on the RASC/RCT Musicians Association website.

You can read more about Phil and Dennis’s previous exploits with the band here.
