Thank you to all who joined us at Colin’s concert. We’re proud to say that together, we have raised £1000 for St. Wilfrid’s Hospice

‘Celebration in Brass’ a concert to celebrate the life of Colin Bourne will take place on Saturday 10th of June 2023, at St Paul’s Church in Chichester.

Colin was a very popular and much-loved member of the brass band community, who sadly passed away in February after a short battle with cancer. He was a member of many bands – including Handcross, Uckfield Concert Brass, Chichester City, Bournemouth Concert, Otterbourne, Horsham Borough Band, and Lewes, Glynde & Beddingham – who have now come together to celebrate his life and achievements through his favourite hobby, brass music.

Colin devoted his life to music, regularly performing in concerts and contests and was an important member of many of the South East’s bands. He even met his wife, Wendy at Chichester City Band. He played BBb bass, the largest of the brass instruments, and would always provide whatever help and support he could to his bands.

Jane Stewart, Lewes Glynde and Beddingham Brass Band’s Secretary and concert co-organiser:

“Colin was a well-loved member of our community, and he will be sorely missed. His music was heard far and wide and it is only fitting that we celebrate him in the same way. To have so many musicians from so many bands come together for this concert is a true testament to his importance within the brass band world.”

The concert will also be raising funds for St. Wilfrid’s Hospice, who provided excellent care to Colin and his family, with all profits and retiring collection being donated to support their work with those needing palliative care. Tickets can be reserved in advance and paid for on arrival and the bands extend a warm welcome to all those wishing to celebrate Colin and enjoy an evening of music.
