I started piano lessons when I was 5 and then began trumpet aged 8. A wise brass teacher at the time pointed me in direction of the euphonium and I picked up trombone soon after that. I studied at East Sussex Academy of Music alongside other LGB members past and present and around the same time joined Horsham Borough Band on 2nd euphonium. I studied Music at University of Huddersfield and had some fun years experiencing Yorkshire brass banding from 2006-2009 whilst majoring in performance on piano. On completing my degree I began my PGCE at Sussex University – at the same time re-joining Horsham. I am currently Subject Leader for Music in an 11-18 school in West Sussex. Alongside the day to day teaching, I love leading the college jazz band and conducting large scale school musicals every year. I joined LGB in July 2016 after some time out from regular banding to complete my MA. After first helping LGB out back in 2006 on their tour to Hungary – a decade later I am thoroughly enjoying being back!
