Mermaid silverware

Lewes Glynde and Beddingham Brass had a fantastic outing at the scaba Spring Contest this weekend, winning second place overall in their section.

Their programme began with the march “Death or Glory” by RB Hall, continued with a beautifully restrained rendition of the hymn tune “Sandon” and concluded with the magnificent test piece “The Mermaid of Zennor” by Philip Harper (the regional qualification piece for the second section). Huge congratulations also go to James Emberley, our principal Euphonium player who won the Best Instrumentalist prize in the section.

LGB’s MD Ian Stewart was delighted with the overall performance of the band on the day, and we are all looking forward to the scaba Entertainments contest – also at the Hawth theatre in Crawley – next month.
