High Sherrif fanfares 2016The Lewes, Glynde and Beddingham (LGB Brass) fanfare trumpeters were on display this week at the High Sheriffs’ inauguration ceremony at Lewes Crown Court on Tuesday 22nd March 2016. Tony Line and Alex Emberley were playing the Sheriffs’ own Eb silver bugles, together with Jane Humberstone and Christina Kearley playing full-length Bb fanfare trumpets, directed by Peter Cowlett. On a bright Spring morning, the town briefly came to a halt at lunchtime to allow the party of dignitaries – including the Lord Lieutenant of Sussex Mr Peter Field, the incoming and outgoing High Sheriffs of both East and West Sussex, and members of the judiciary and heads of Emergency Services – to process from the Pelham Hotel to the Crown Court and back to the accompaniment of the fanfare trumpeters resplendent in their band uniforms and sporting the ceremonial banners of both counties on their instruments. This is a time-honoured tradition in Lewes – the county town of East Sussex – and LGB brass is delighted to support such pomp and ceremony within their home town
