Who are
Oompah Brass?

Oompah Brass are a five piece brass group who specialise in high-energy performances of rock and pop classics. Since forming in 2006, they’ve travelled all over the world, and played with all sorts of famous people your parents will have heard of, like Frank Skinner, Chas ‘n’ Dave, and The Horne Section.

But they started out exactly where you are now – learning brass instruments with their mates, and having fun with it.

Arguably, not much has changed…

So when the opportunity came up for us to partner up with this fabulous crew to deliver a youth workshop for the young brass players of Lewes and East Sussex, we jumped at it. And we’re very proud indeed to give you the opportunity to join our Oompah Sparktacular.

Info for Parents

  • What is my child going to get out of this?

First and foremost, a day having fun, learning to play familiar, enjoyable music with a group of like minded young people. They’ll also get all the related benefits, like increased self esteem and self confidence and lower levels of anxiety, not to mention memories to last a life time.

  • Is my child experienced enough?

As long as your child has some working knowledge of a brass instrument (like having completed at least a term as a member of BrassSparklers) we’ll make it work. Those with more skill and experience will have more challenging parts to play but there will be something for everyone.

  • Do I get to see the end result?

Absolutely! The day will finish with a performance of everything the young people have been working on throughout the day, and parents, carers, siblings, grandparents – and anyone else who wants to come is invited! We will ask you to pre-book to let us know how many people you want to bring (we can’t quite stretch to hiring Wembley Stadium for the day but it’s surely only a matter of time).

  • What do I have to do to sign up?

Fill in the booking form and pay the course fee here. The event is subsidised thanks to our generous funding from the Chalk Cliff Trust but there a small contribution of £15. If for whatever reason the cost would make your super keen child unable to attend, please drop us a line to discuss.
