We’re a junior brass band for children aged 8-18

We were formed in 2022 as part of the centenary celebrations of LGB Brass. Just like the main band, our members come from all over Lewes and the surrounding areas. We rehearse once a week (Thursdays, 7-7:45), at the All Saints Centre in Lewes. Everyone is welcome – it doesn’t matter if you’ve never held a brass instrument in your life or if you have been having lessons for a few years – there’s a seat here with your name on it!

The aim of BrassSparks is to offer an accessible and enjoyable musical and social experience for young players in the Lewes area.

BrassSparks is led by qualified music teachers, who can help our young players learn and progress while having fun and gaining confidence,

We are grateful to Lewes Town Council for the grant of £2000 which is helping to fund our BrassSparks programme in 2024.

We can offer:

  • Weekly rehearsals during term time on Thursday evenings
  • Free loan of a range of different instruments
  • Music, for enjoyment and improvement
  • Opportunities to develop and playing experiences with the main band

Who’s in charge?

Nat and Joy take care of our entire youth programme, running our Whole Class Brass sessions in the primary schools of Lewes, and leading the weekly BrassSparks rehearsals on a Thursday evening.
