On Sunday 2 March, four members of the band (Jess, Joy, Emma and Tom) took on all 13.1 miles of Brighton Half Marathon – and absolutely smashed it.
The team had decided to take on the challenge to raise money for the band, in order to buy some new music stands. Getting used in all weathers, being lifted and shifted in and out of various cars, being carried through streets and across fields takes its toll and the stands we’ve been using for the past several years are well past their best. The challenge was on – raise £1000 to buy 35 brand new shiny music stands – and the intrepid four laced on their running shoes and stepped up.
In ridiculously good weather (where did this weekend’s sun suddenly come from?!) they ran from Hove Lawns out to Roedean and back again, with a slight detour down Madeira Drive, and secured their medals.
They also secured £730 of sponsorship to go towards the new stands fund – thanks everyone!
