Band in the bullring
LGB Brass is swapping the bandstand for a bullring in September.
Musicians from the band are playing for a professional production
of the opera, Carmen, at the
Congress Theatre in Eastbourne.
The production is set in the famous bullring in Seville and follows
the turbulent love life of the gypsy girl, Carmen.
LGB Brass launches each performance by parading through the theatre
playing Spanish Gypsy Dance by Pascual Marquina. The musicians
will also be extras in the show.
Band secretary, Jane Stewart, said: “We’ll be playing the parts of
military bandsmen in the background, chatting and joking or polishing
the instruments.”
The performances are at 7.30pm on Saturday 6th September and 3pm on
Sunday 7th September.
The opera is a touring production by the
Ellen Kent Company.
A different brass band plays at each venue.
