Remembering Jenny
LGB Brass is organising Brass for Life, a memorial concert for
much-missed band member, Jenny Line.
Jenny had been an integral part of the band
since 1995, playing flugel and solo Eb horn. She died in
January 2009 after a brave battle against cancer.
The concert is in
Eastbourne, where Jenny lived. It takes place on
Friday September 3rd at 7.30pm at the King's Centre, 27 Edison
Road, BN23 6PT.
The music will include
solos by members of Jenny's family. Husband, Tony, the band's
principal euphonium, will swap instruments and play Scarlet
Ribbons on Eb horn. This piece was arranged specially for
Jenny by Nigel Simmons. Son Chris, LGB's soprano cornet, will play
Demelza and daughter Shelley, the band's former bass trombone,
will sing Paper Moon, also specially arranged by Nigel.
The Worshipful the
Mayor of Eastbourne, Cllr Caroline Heaps, and the Mayor and
Mayoress of Lewes, Cllr and Mrs Turner, will attend the
concert.
Tickets are £5 and
include a free drink in the interval. The band is giving its
services for free and all proceeds are for Cancer Research UK.
Tickets are available
from the King's Centre, either in person, by post or by phone
(01323 521125). Credit card bookings can be taken over the
phone. Please quote 'Brass for Life' when booking.
