Congratulations to Jane and Ian
Members of LGB Brass are delighted to congratulate LGB secretary
and bass trombone player, Jane Waldron, and the band's musical
director, Ian Stewart, who were married today.
At the rehearsal before the wedding, the band presented gifts,
including a ball and chain for Ian and a "bride-to-be" sash for Jane.
A quartet of musicians (Simon Emberley, Nigel Stevens, Alex Stevens
and Nigel Simmons) played at the ceremony at Horsham Register Office.
The music included Light Cavalry, the regimental march of Ian's army
regiment, the Queen's Own Hussars.
Afterwards, the couple celebrated with fellow musicians at a
reception in Rusper, West Sussex. A 10-piece group, conducted by Nigel
Simmons, entertained the party. The players were: Chris and Tony Line
and Simon Emberley from LGB Brass; Janatha and Mark Yarham and Nigel
and Alex Stevens from Friary Guildford; Peter Long and Geoff Clarke
from Horsham Borough Band; and Chris Attrill (the Best Man and army
colleague of Ian).

The music included Scarlet Ribbons, a horn solo played by
Nigel Stevens and arranged by Nigel Simmons originally for LGB's Jenny
Line. The programme ended with an arrangement by Nigel Simmons of
Light Cavalry for 10-piece band. Nigel presented the couple with
bound copies of both scores.
Thanks to Dot Stewart-Whyte for the photos.
