I started learning the cornet with LGB Training Band aged 9 after an operation on my hip put an end to my sporting career. I quickly forgot sport and fell in love with playing, looking forward to Thursday evenings since my first week of band. Being invited to join the main LGB band felt like a huge honour, only made better by being awarded the Lewes Mayor’s Most Improved Player award in 2013. Since then, music has been one of my biggest focuses.

My main instrument through college is trumpet (though I’m always looking forward to the holidays when I can come home to play cornet with LGB). As well as the brass ensemble there, I also play in the marching band, concert band, orchestra and big band, which allows me to play and enjoy a wide variety of genres.

I have been fortunate enough to have a huge number of amazing experiences thanks to music, chief among them, playing at Lord’s Cricket Ground during the lunch break of an England/Sri Lanka test match, followed by playing to the royal family as part of the Queen’s Patron Lunch celebration in 2016 on the following day.

I’m currently preparing for my Grade 8 trumpet exam as well as studying A Level Music, History and French, with an aim to study music at university in the future.
