Training band gets a boost

Back in the summer, on one of the few days this year when we could get away with wearing shorts and t shirts, LGB Brass Training Band was fortunate enough to receive a significant donation of £350 from the Police Property Act Fund. The money comes from the sale of property confiscated by order of the court, and the fund is administered by the Police Authority. The monies are used to support local community groups.

Peter Cowlett, Youth Safety Inspector for Sussex Police, presented a cheque to Adam Kearley, Director of the LGB Training Band, at the senior band’s rehearsal on Thursday 16 August. Adam said “We are delighted to receive such a generous donation. I will be looking into buying some form of uniform for the band, as well as some new music and possibly the refurbishment of one of the instruments.”

LGB’s Chairman, Tony Line said “It’s absolutely fantastic that small groups such as ours have access to the Fund. This donation will make a significant difference to our Training Band and allow the members the opportunity to experience music making that may otherwise not have been open to them.”

Both bands rehearse at All Saints in Lewes on a Thursday evening.
