Contest success again for LGB

Ian and Emma show off the trophy

After spending yesterday warming up at a surprisingly sunny Ringmer Fete, LGB successfully defended their crown as Entertainments King of the B Section of the scaba Entertainment Contest today at The Hawth in Crawley.  The judge was Bob Childs, MD of the number one ranking band in the world (Cory) and a very well respected adjudicator.  He said of the programme weplayed “..very well balanced programme with structure and contrasting moods – thanks, and congratulations to percussion.”

Bands from as far afield as Berkshire, Surrey, Sussex, London and Hampshire took part, each playing a 24 minute programme.  Points are awarded for music, entertainment value and deportment, with points being deducted for exceeding th 24 minute time limit. LGB played Star Wars, Deep Harmony, Post Horn Gallop (soloist Simon Emberley, accompanied by Alex Emberley on the toilet – yes really – you sort of have to see it to fully appreciate it), The Greatest Show on Earth and the final part of our area testpiece, Olympus.

We first won this cup in 2008, beating Thundersley, who were on a hat-trick.  We won it again in 2011, beating Denmead, who were on a hat-trick.  In 2013, we’ll be the ones on the hat-trick!  Bookies open anyone??
